OCTOBER – the monthly journal.

Here we are again, a wrap up of the month that was.

HIGHLIGHTS

Lots of time spent with friends this month – catching up with new and old. Celebrating many birthdays of loved ones. The launch of my dear friend Lisa’s incredible collection with Spell and a beautiful event to boot spent with an incredible group of women.

My work being recognised by some amazing brands whose values align closely with mine – and having opportunities to create new content.

Picking up my handmade ceramics at the end of another amazing term and actually being really proud of some of the pieces I created. Also got back into painting abit this last month. Finally got one of our wedding photos printed and framed, and it honestly brings so much joy to me every time I see it. Staring to go for the odd run again – really just loving taking it kind of easy and being outside in nature. Just another form of meditation. Upgrading my phone for the first time in a few years to the new iPhone 11 Pro Max, not going to lie. It’s pretty epic Picked up my brand new custom made surf-board – and it’s perfect!

NOT-SO-HIGHLIGHTS

Shooting content for a job, and losing all said content and then having to drive to Brisbane AGAIN to reshoot – but we made a good day of it with lots of yummy food so actually wasn’t the worst thing ever haha.

Getting sick… again. Just an annoying viral thing, but something about getting sick after winter is so much more annoying.

THIS MONTH’S GAMECHANGER

Not my best game changers of game changers, but I have been watching Explained on Netflix. And The Mind Explained [same series but focused on the mind]. They are just short, punchy episodes packed with information.

So its been nice to watch something educational and feel like I’m gaining something from Netflix vs being a time-sapper.

READ

Finally finished reading Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harar. I’m one of those people who is reading a minimum of 3 books at any one time. But this was such a great book, and honestly felt like I needed to re-read the moment I finished it. I feel like its a book, every single person NEEDS to read.

Man’s Search for Meaning- Viktor Frankl

This book is recommended by SO many people, and has been on my list for some time. Finally getting around to reading it. It’s a hard read at times but so so many pockets of wisdom and important life lessons. I’m sure this will be one I go back to again and again and probably get something different from it everytime.

LISTEN

New podcast I’m loving:

Wardrobe Crisis with Clare Press
[ Vogue’s sustainability editor]

I especially loved the episode with Everlane’s founder Michael Preysman [episode 93]. Which was a very open conversation about their mission for transparency and their newest focus on sustainability.

Also a must listen isepisode 73 with Stella McCartney’s Worldwide Sustainability & Innovation Director – Claire BergkampWho is my newest dream girl, and just such a boss. So powerful to hear just how advanced this label is and only made me love it even more!

Audio books I’m listening too or have finished recently:

Mythos + Heroes  written and narrated by Stephen Fry on Audible.

I’m just obsessed with Stephen Fry, he is SUCH a good story teller and these have been my favourite books to listen too with longer drives as they are SO good at making the drive feel shorter, and keeping me awake. It’s Greek mythology and a little history entwined together.

Why We Sleep: The Science of Sleep & Dreams – Matthew Walker

This book is SO interesting, and I’m only in the early chapters. You could definitely read this too, I’m just loving audio books right now. Not only is it incredibly interesting, but super important. We constantly underestimate the value of sleep and this book helps highlight its importance, its biological history in our DNA and then (so I’m told) how we can improve our sleep.

PRODUCTS I’M LOVING RIGHT NOW

IMBIBE BEAUTY RENEWAL

Still obsessing over this product I shared a couple of months ago. I actually ran out of my supply for a month or so, and actually really felt the difference. Which is sometimes the biggest test of whether a product works for you or not I guess. I just felt like my digestion was a bit off and my skin was just worse than it had been for a few months.
