NEED IT NOW: THE (pink) VINTAGE SWEATSHIRT.

Continuing on with my challenge to wear more pink (see here). It all started with a pair of shoes, you know, starting small. As I guess is usually necessary with any dramatic change in your life.

Yes I am saying that me wearing pink is dramatic, seeing as its a colour I’ve consistently avoided since the time I could talk.

Keeping true to my, pink doesn’t have to be feminine, realisation, the second piece that caught my attention and hence entered my wardrobe is this oversize vintage sweatshirt. Heaven right?

Now it’s not secret that vintage fashion has been on trend for a while, as is the nature of fashion, everything seems to cycle around and around. But more than ever,  I feel like vintage fashion, particularly tees and sweaters, is going crazy right now. If you’re keen to get on board this trend, you have some options. Whether it’s raiding your local op-shop, or vintage store (albeit a better selection of product, but you’re paying for it), or opting for a modern brand mimicking all that is beautiful about vintage (I’ll list some favourites below).

Fad or not, personally I’m pro this vintage craze, as it really is nice that these clothes are getting a second (slash 3rd or 4th life), and in terms of sustainability…. well it makes sense. As curious George, via Jack Johnson, said.. Reduce, reuse, recycle.

I think thats also how this pink sweater got me.. a) its reclaimed vintage and b) the contrast of red in the print just does good things…

WHERE TO BUY VINTAGE/ VINTAGE-ESQUE

1. MR VINTAGE BYRON BAY

Yes, based in Byron, so worth going if you’re up that way. Great stock, great prices. To my understanding they in the process of updated their website, so stay tuned on that one. For now you can shop of selection of their range via Pepper Mayo Vintage

2. STOREROOM VINTAGE

Again a store (located in Surry Hills), but you can a browse a selection of their range online.

3. ASOS – RECLAIMED VINTAGE

ASOS not only has their marketplace where people are selling pre-loved pieces, but they also have a reclaimed vintage section. Some of the pieces are a little more outrageous than others, but there are some really cool re-worked pieces. And as a tip – I wouldn’t limit yourself only to the women’s section, as some of the guys tees and jumpers are super sweet (and sometimes a little simpler) so just order down a few sizes and give it a whirl.

4. URBAN OUTFITTERS

Urban Outfitters both has a sweet little selection of vintage clothes, as well as a number of vintage inspired sweatshirts and tees. Definitely a fave place to find a winning piece.

5. VINTAGE LOOK – MADEWORN via TUCHUZY

I’m pretty obsessed with my recent discovery of this MADEWORN label. The prints are more what you are usually looking for when shopping vintage, only they are saving you a hell of lot of time by already providing you with the best of the best.
